2015 has been a prolific year for Italian cinema: from drama, to comedy, to fantasy, with Tale of Tales, and even supeheroes, with They call me Jeeg. An eclectic production which has been only partially appreciated by the David di Donatello judges, who, in the end, have decided to award a comedy, a genre Italy is quite used to. It is true that Perfect strangers is a comedy of its own, based on nowadays complications of relationships. And the very reason for the award may be found in its screenplay, awarded too. Or the jury hasn't grasped fully the incredible changes Italian cinema has gone through. And while the David awards are trying to gain a new fashion, being broadcasted on TV at a rushing pace, we can still taste tradition.
