Rome Film Fest 2015

At its 10th edition, the Rome Film Fest will run from October 16 until October 24: ten days of previews, screenings, exhibitions, debates, conferences and special events, which will take place in the usual location, the Auditorium Parco della Musica, and all around the city.

The official selection of this edition of the Rome Film Fest consists of 37 films from 24 countries. Among them, Truth by James Vanderbilt, with Robert Redford and Cate Blanchett, Junun by Paul Thomas Anderson, with Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead's guitarist), The walk 3D by Robert Zemekis, and four Italian movies: The beginners (Alaska), by Claudio Cupellini, with Elio Germano, Dobbiamo parlare by Sergio Rubini, They call me Jeeg Robot (Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot) by Gabriele Mainetti, Registro di classe – parte prima 1900-1960 by Gianni Amelio and Cecilia Pagliarani.

The Fest’s program includes close encounters with the guests, tributes to Ingrid Bergman, Stanley Kubrik, Pier Paolo Pasolini, the Taviani brothers, Luis Bruñes. Then three retrospectives, one dedicated to Pixar, another dedicated to Antonio Pietrangeli and a third one to Pablo Lorraín, together with “Films of our life”, a selection of films chosen and introduced by the committee members. In addition, there will be three more program branches (“Work in progress”, “Hidden city” and “Reflections”), an independent and parallel sidebar “Alice nella città” and an international market “MIA”.

This year, the Rome Film Fest has changed its name. It is no longer a “Festival” but a “Fest”: a celebration, a tribute to cinema. No ambition to compete with the Festival di Venezia or other international events, but an honest desire to enjoy forgotten and unforgettable movies and promote new ones, which otherwise could have been penalized by distribution in Italy. Due to a limited budget, the glamorous part of the manifestation has been reduced, therefore the red carpet will be slim but of value, with guests such as Jude Law, Paolo Sorrentino, Wes Anderson, Dario Argento, Cate Blanchett, and Todd Haynes.

After each screening, the audience will be able to vote their favorite film through an app, the Internet or voting stations: the film with the largest number of votes will receive the BNL People’s Choice Award.
